School Library Media Resources to Promote a Global Learning Environment


The purpose of this session is to identify the global awareness threads in the NC Professional Standards for School Library Media Coordinators and to locate resources that will enable school library media coordinators to create global media programs.

Providing Feedback

The roles of school library media coordinators have evolved over the past decade to reflect the needs of today's students. Educating modern day students requires integrating 21st Century themes such as global awareness throughout curricula and school programs including library media programs. Let's observe how this global awareness is reflected in the NC Professional Standards and pilot rubric for school library media coordinators.

Think Pair Share Activity (15 mins.)

Participants choose a partner. In pairs:

1.One person review the SLMC Professional Standards
2.One person review the SLMC Piloted Rubric
3.While reading, identify cultural and global threads in the text
4.Share your findings with your partner
5.Discuss implications for school library media coordinators
6.Share out with the group
